Hi, Terri!
Last summer I began working as a clinical research intern at Eastern Maine Medical Center. While the position was unpaid last year, I am happy to say that I have been invited back to work a full-time, paid position this summer.
In the meantime, I’ve decided to pick up a double major in psychology at University of Rochester. I took 22 credits last semester and worked as a research assistant in the psychology department. This semester is my second working as a teaching assistant for the spring course, Principles of Biology II. I’m also Business Manager and Fundraising Chair of Women’s Club Basketball.
The Maine Seacoast Mission is the most supportive scholarship organization I am involved with, offering the most generous outside scholarship I received. Without this help, I would be struggling much more to pay for my undergraduate education.

Dear Terri Rodick,
I hope you are doing well. In the past two years of attending Thomas College, I have had my ups and downs in both academics and athletics. Despite the hardship I have experienced while attending college, I have gained a couple of awards and achievements. In terms of academics, I have achieved Dean’s List – High Honors. One nomination in the fall of 2016 and another in the spring of 2016.
Aside from the Dean’s List, in 2017 I was officially named to the 2016 Fall All-Academic Team of the North Atlantic Conference.
Last year I did not achieve any individual awards, but as a team, we won the soccer championship in the North Atlantic Conference. However, we were runners up from New England College this year.
Thank you so much for helping me make all of these experiences possible, and I wish you are well.

Hi Terri!
I recently returned from a fantastic semester abroad in England where I studied history alongside UK students at the University of Birmingham. While I was abroad I was able to submerge myself in the fascinating British culture by living with current undergrad students at UoB. My time there was wonderful. In addition to exploring metropolitan Birmingham I was able to visit places such as London and Liverpool in England, as well as going to Wales and Scotland.
To conclude my time abroad I went on a month trip through Europe that took me through Amsterdam, Italy, and France. This trip inspired me to continue travelling and growing as a person, and I would urge anyone who has any interest at all to take a leap and go!

Here’s a March 16, 2017from Sarra Bridges, our first Angus Macdonald Scholar.
“One exciting thing for me at Colby [College] this year has been my campus job with Student Health on Campus (SHOC). I have taken a leadership role organizing one of largest events that occurs each semester: Stressbusters. The event takes place during the last week of the semester before finals — and many students participate.
“Our aim is to help students relieve some of the stress that inevitably comes along with finals. We have piñatas, wood chopping, dogs people can pet and play with; people can make their own stress balls to keep, and many more things! We are constantly improving this event by adding different things [or] revamping things we’ve done already.
“I have also been on a sup[port]-group in SHOC focused on programming around drugs and alcohol. We just piloted a program we’ve been working on all year which will potentially be called I Care. It is focused on community and the drinking culture.
“It is mainly about how we, as students, can work on looking out for each other, making sure everyone has fun — but stays safe — at Colby. We emphasize the point that we all impact each other’s experiences here, and we want to make sure that impact is positive.
“Next year, I am taking on an event bigger leadership role as co-president of SHOC. I was approached by the current co-presidents about it and I am very excited for this opportunity to make an even bigger impact.

Here’s a recent note from Ashley McEachern.
I am a Customer Service Agent, answering customer questions, giving them directions. I also sell the 50/50 raffle tickets that benefit the Red Sox Foundation. Half of the money raised from these raffles go to underprivileged high school seniors in Lee County (the county I’m in Florida) for scholarships at college.
This year 13 students received scholarships at $5,000 each. Hope you are doing well!

Hi Terri!
This past semester, and each one before it, I have been on the Dean’s list. I also have been chosen from the Nursing Program and Orono Student Nursing Association to attend the National Student Nurses Convention in Dallas, Texas this April.
While I’m there I will be able to attend seminars on topics I am interested within the field of nursing, have mock interviews for jobs, receive information on building a strong resume, and learn about ways to make nursing a better profession for both the patient and the nurse!
The Maine Seacoast Mission Scholarship has allowed me to be able to self fund some of this trip which will make me a more knowledgeable nurse in the future.
I have also been a soccer coach at the Orono Middle School this past fall — a great opportunity for me to teach kids, and make an impact on their lives, while teaching them about the importance of being a good team member and staying active.
