Housing Improvement
Everyone deserves to live in a dry and warm home, but Downeast houses and manufactured homes are often hard to heat and maintain, especially on a limited budget. The Maine Seacoast Mission’s Housing Improvement program addresses these issues by fixing up or rebuilding up to twenty homes in our community each year.
Based in Cherryfield, our rehab work is made possible by partnerships with other housing agencies, especially Downeast Community Partners, and a corps of amazing volunteers. Each summer, hundreds of volunteers of all ages from church and community groups across the U.S. spend one or two weeks at the Weald Bethel Community Center and make a huge difference in these families’ lives. Repairs and renovations range from painting to insulated mobile home skirting to new roofs.

An average of 300 volunteers come to Cherryfield each year to repair and rehab homes; their repairs result in lower energy costs and safer, warmer, and drier homes for families and older adults.
Our work is your work, made possible by your generous gifts.
No matter how hard times get, the Mission will be there, helping sustain and strengthen families and communities. Please join us. Your donations bring warmth when it’s cold, shed light where it’s dark, and give strength when burdens grow heavy.
