Amazing, Busy, Apple Crisp Day at Mission Food Pantry

Mission Food Pantry Do-It-Yourself Apple Crisp Kit

CHERRYFIELD, ME — Today was an amazing and busy day at the Food Pantry. Our theme of the day was apple crisp. We gave out oats, sugar and apples with each box so families could make their own.

We served 40 families/117 people. Twenty families had food delivered; 20 families picked up at the Food Pantry. We’ve received very positive feedback about our online Food Pantry ordering system. Our clients find it helpful. We do too. Our clients receive more of what they want. We waste less food. The pantry staff was able to keep track of all incoming phone-calls, the online orders, and the food deliveries. That was no small feat.

We were so busy Farmer Michael made a second trip to bring us more salad greens to give out.

I am very proud of my staff for always thinking outside the box and finding new and innovative ways to serve our patrons.

CHERRYFIELD, ME — For graduating seniors, high school spring is looking very different this year. Narraguagus student Levi Shaw, pictured here, spent his morning picking up donated produce from Shaw’s and Walmart in Ellsworth for delivery to the Mission’s food pantry in Cherryfield. Levi helps run our drive-thru pantry. We are grateful for his muscle – and his heart. The Air Force will be lucky to have him come fall. This is what community looks like.
