The Mission has opened registration for our 2026 EdGE summer camps. Camp opportunities are offered at three locations across the Downeast region in Addison, Machias, and Milbridge for children in kindergarten through eighth grade. EdGE Summer Camp provides children with fun, safe, and social peer experiences, while also helping parents and guardians maintain routine work schedules.
Your gift to the Maine Seacoast Mission makes you part of all we do.
Camp experiences also help children develop a sense of community and social relationships with kids older and younger than themselves. The three camp locations are:
- D.W. Merritt Elementary School (Addison) — Camp runs from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (with drop-off starting at 8:45 a.m.) Monday, June 29 through Friday, July 31. This camp is for students from Addison, Beals, Columbia, Columbia Falls, Harrington, Jonesport, and Jonesboro.
- Milbridge Elementary School—Camp runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (with drop-off starting at 8:45 a.m.) Monday, June 29 through Friday, July 31. This camp is for students from Beddington, Cherryfield, Deblois, Harrington, and Milbridge.
- Rose M. Gaffney Elementary School (Machias)—Camp runs from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. (with drop-off starting at 7:45 a.m.) Monday, June 15 through Friday, July 10. This camp is for students from Machias and surrounding towns.
Karen Bailey, EdGE Site Coordinator and a teacher at D.W. Merritt Elementary School operates the EdGE Summer Camp site in Addison. She shares, “Staff focuses on making each day the best day ever for the campers. There is plenty of free play, literacy-based craft and story time, STEM, art, crafts, and board games.”
Students work on skills that they learn during the school year and also have a lot of fun. Parents can register their child for as many weeks as they wish or on a week-by-week basis. At camp, kids rotate through a variety of activities during the day including STEM, arts and crafts, and physical activities. Over the summer, campers go on field trips and have multiple opportunities to visit the Mission’s challenge course on the Downeast Campus in Cherryfield.
EdGE Director Isaac Marnik says, “EdGE Summer Camp offers students a chance to try new activities and have fun together. Every day at camp, it is common to see students exploring the outdoors, creating games, and learning new skills.”
Camp is $30.00 per student per week, and scholarships are available. EdGE Summer Camp is open to any student who was in kindergarten through eighth grade during the 2025-2026 school year who live in these towns. Students do not need to be enrolled in EdGE programming during the school year to attend. Free breakfast and lunch are available to all students through the USDA summer meals program.
