CHERRYFIELD, ME — Open Mic Night on fall and winter Wednesdays at the Mission’s Weald Bethel Community Center are a great way to bring people together to make and/or listen to music. October 30, 2019, Mission President John Zavodny stopped by at Open Mic, grabbed a guitar, and played an impromptu “Werewolves of London.” John was accompanied by Steve Harley (gtr), Cambo (perc), and Mission Downeast Campus Facilities Manager Scott Shaw (bs).

Milbridge ME — On Tuesday October 22, 2019, John Goodwin Jr. Construction, Southwest Harbor, ME started groundbreaking work on our Tiny House’s land in Milbridge. A heavy equipment operator, and an employee with a chainsaw spent the day prepping the land our Veteran will soon call home.
Our next phase will involve a septic system and concrete crew. If you’d like to become one of our sponsors please contact Bobbi Ann Harris at 664-2424.

Another week of double crews and these two highly skilled teams knocked it out of the park. The volunteers’ work included building a handicapped accessible walk-in shower for a woman, roofing a home, installing new flooring, and replacing windows.
I would like to send a big Thank You to these crews who have adopted Downeast Maine as their Mission destination!
All 56 volunteers, plus families whose homes were upgraded, celebrate dinner at Cherryfield School.
CHERRYFIELD, ME — From Maine Seacoast Mission’s Downeast Campus in Cherryfield, ME, Housing Rehabilitation Program Manager Scott Shaw sends five new photos and a back story of more good news.
“We had a big week with the Housing Rehabilitation Program,” writes Manager Scott Shaw. “For some very appreciative homeowners, forty-three volunteers from Ohio and thirteen volunteers from South Portland roofed three homes, built two sets of stairs, installed windows and doors, and started skirting a trailer. Maine Seacoast Mission volunteers get ‘er done!”

“A big thanks to them,” said Scott Shaw. “The crew removed two garage doors from an elderly gentleman’s home, and enclosed the space. That allowed our partners, Downeast Community Partners, to weatherize the home.
“The amazing church group stacked five cord of firewood for an elderly couple,” said Shaw. “They also finished work on the Lamb House, just in time for a single mom and her three children to avoid homelessness and move in.”
