Education Builds Community in the Spring 2026 Bulletin

by | May 15, 2026 | News

Some of the most important things happen quietly. A mentor who checks in. A scholarship that arrives when a family least expects it. A child who looks through a microscope for the first time and feels that the future belongs to her too. Maine Seacoast Mission’s spring 2026 edition of the Bulletin is full of those moments.

Themed “Education Builds Community,” this issue shines a spotlight on the transformative impact of education. It is a celebration of what becomes possible when no one is left to figure things out alone. Across Maine’s islands and Downeast coast, the Mission walks alongside students from kindergarten through to college. It offers not just programs, but presence. A steady hand. A trusted neighbor.

The Davis Maine Scholarship marks a major milestone: five young women from Washington County—who make up the first class of Davis Maine Scholars—graduate from college this spring. Each one arrived at college carrying uncertainty alongside ambition. Each one found that the Mission was there to answer a phone call or reply to a text, navigate the paperwork, and simply say: you belong. This spring, they cross the stage with degrees in hand, with some returning Downeast to bring hope and their newfound skills.

The Bulletin also spotlights the joy of discovery through a new STEM partnership with MDI Biological Laboratory who brings the power of science, via hands-on experiments, to EdGE afterschool sites. Readers will also discover the passion of corporate sponsors and donors who share why investing in the Mission means investing in Maine’s future.

The Spring 2026 Bulletin is available now on Our Publications page, alongside past issues of the magazine. Read it, and you’ll be reminded that when communities take care of one another, everyone rises.

The digital edition is interactive and includes videos to accompany each story. Favor paper? Pick up a copy at one of the Mission’s three locations: the Northeast Harbor office, the Downeast Campus in Cherryfield, or aboard the Sunbeam. Readers can also request a copy be mailed.
