The Mission is excited to celebrate the 13 Scholars graduating from college this spring. The students are chosen to receive these scholarships from the Mission because of their academic achievements throughout high school as well as their commitment to their communities and perseverance during their academic career. These college graduates attended nine colleges and universities and originally graduated from schools in Hancock and Washington counties.

This year’s graduating Scholars include:

  • Bella Brown, University of Maine at Orono
  • Alexa Kennedy, University of Maine at Orono
  • Sarah Ellen Larrabee, University of Maine at Orono
  • Ava Lawson, University of Southern Maine
  • Kahlysta Morris, University of Maine at Orono
  • Wilder Noyes, Johnson and Wales
  • Henry Penfold, Bowdoin College
  • Luna Perry-St.Peter, Vermont State University at Castleton
  • Mia Richardson, Husson University
  • Moira Sankey, Wheaton College
  • Sawyer Schaad, University of Massachusetts at Amherst
  • Tristan Seavey, Bates College
  • Johanna Stiles, Husson University

Your gift to the Maine Seacoast Mission makes you part of all we do.

Alexa Kennedy, who is graduating from UMO, shares that she began working as a reporter at ABC 7 and FOX 22 in Bangor, and that having the Mission Scholarship helped her further her career in broadcasting. After graduating, she will continue to work at the station. Husson graduate Johanna Stiles adds, “I want to express how truly grateful I am for everything this scholarship has provided. It gave me financial security at a time when I genuinely did not know how I would afford four years of college, and that support has meant more to me than I can put into words.”

She began taking graduate level psychology courses at Husson and is planning on pursuing a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.

“We are excited to join these students in their celebrations and are honored to have been small part of each of their college experience.” shares Mission President John Zavodny.

In addition to these Scholars, five Davis Maine Scholars will also graduate this spring:

  • Lisett Anderson, University of New England
  • Rachel Colby, University of New England
  • Emilee Hutchins, University of New England
  • Ana Rosa Valencia Jungo, Wheaton College
  • Mali Smith, University of New England

In 2025, the Mission awarded $246,000 in scholarships to 82 students. 72% of those students attended a college or university in Maine. Each year, approximately 30 new scholarships are awarded to deserving students. Scholars are chosen based on academic merit and financial need. Most scholarships are renewable throughout a student’s four years in college. Learn more about the Scholarship program.
