Frenchboro Island Community Braves Cold for Bingo

Frenchboro Island Community Braves Cold for Bingo

February 10, 2018 — The Sunbeam cruised to Frenchboro last night. Islanders and crew gathered in the garage of the Community Building to play a couple of lively games of BINGO.

Here is a photo of me calling out numbers to the players. There aren’t a lot of opportunities for communities to gather together on an island in February. It was great to see how many folks braved the cold to join in the fun!

Peace,
Douglas Cornman, Island Outreach Director

FRENCHBORO, Me — A photographer traveling with the Sunbeam in January 2018 took advantage of the spectacular morning light streaming through the Frenchboro Congregational Church windows.

In this photo, Island Outreach Director Douglas Cornman is honoring the photographer’s request to stand in the light for some picture taking.

The Frenchboro Congregational Church hosts an annual Lobster Dinner to benefit the church and the island community. The Sunbeam crew generally transports about 40 people roundrip to the Frenchboro Lobster Festival from the mainland.

NORTHEAST HARBOR — Tuesday, January 30th, the Sunbeam curtailed certain trips because of 30 knot (34.5 mph) high winds. Still, as Island Health Director Sharon Daley points out in her email, she and Island Outreach Director Douglas Cornman hopped aboard a mail boat and kept their appointments on Great Cranberry Isle.
