CHERRYFIELD, ME — Another thank you to ‘Sunbeam V’ Steward Jillian for shooting and sharing this photo of “our community supper dish crew” from last Sunday’s Downeast Table of Plenty (DETOP).
“Everyone loved the squash soup, roasted beets and beautiful vibrant purple slaw grown by Geri. She hooked us up with bounty from her root cellar,” Jillian reports.
The Weald Bethel Community Center at the Mission’s Downeast Campus, Cherryfield, ME holds a DETOP community supper every Sunday. During winter months, harsh weather may cause a DETOP cancellation, but such cancellations are R-A-R-E and posted on the Downeast Campus Facebook page.
You learn more about DETOP online here, or you can experience it yourself Sunday.
CHERRYFIELD, ME — Maine Seacoast Mission’s Table of Plenty (DETOP) takes place in the Weald Bethel Community Center, Downeast Campus, Sundays from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm. People from every segment of the community attend this community meal. There is music, conversation, laughter, no hunger, and no loneliness.
When not taking care of business as Steward aboard the Mission’s ‘Sunbeam V,’ Jillian is a valued presence at the Downeast Campus for all food programs and services — including the Downeast Table of Plenty. Jillian is also a good photographer. She sends this photo of “volunteers Aaron and Dave making quick work of supper dishes,” at last Sunday’s DETOP.
Dave and Aaron are shown in the Weald Bethel Community Center’s new kitchen, given its grand opening in June 2018.

CHERRYFIELD, ME — More than 75 people celebrated the 8th anniversary of the Downeast Table of Plenty (DETOP).
We enjoyed a roast beef dinner with lots of potatoes and vegetables, and finished with a birthday cake made by Laureena and Maeve.
The Table of Plenty is a joyful space where people come to listen to music, enjoy a meal, visit with new and old friends. It is a place where all are welcome and all find a place to belong.
Pat Sharp (see photo) was at the very first Table of Plenty on December 5, 2010 and has supported the dinner with food, fellowship and good cheer for eight years.
She donated one of her one of her tidal pool series paintings to the Community Center, a gift in celebration for the 8th anniversary.
