2026 Housing Repair Application Opens

Homeowners in Washington and Eastern Hancock Counties can now apply to participate in the Mission’s Housing Improvement program during the 2026 season. The program helps make homes warm, safe, and dry. Established in 2003, brings hundreds of volunteers to Cherryfield each year to make improvements to homes in the Mission’s service area.

Your gift to the Maine Seacoast Mission makes you part of all we do.

Mission volunteers complete improvement projects ranging from, but are not limited to, creating handicapaccessible decks, window and door repair or replacement, painting, hanging drywall, and landscaping. Homeowners who live in Washington or Hancock County and are a 45-minute or less drive from the Mission’s Downeast campus are encouraged to apply on the Mission’s website.

Ashley, whose home was worked on last year, said, “It’s nice to feel good about our house and know our daughter can move around more freely.”

In 2025, more than 100 volunteers contributed over 3,000 hours of service in the Downeast area. “There is more to repairing homes than picking up a hammer or replacing a window,” says Service Tours Manager Collin Keenan. “Choosing to invite the helping hand of a stranger into one’s home is a courageous decision. Making a home warm, safe, and dry is something homeowners, volunteers, and the Mission facilitate with great respect.”

Homeowners can apply through the Housing Improvement web page at https://seacoastmission.org/downeast/housing-improvement/. For assistance in applying, please call (207) 460-9322 (or) email [email protected].
