The Mission’s Impact in 2025

by | Feb 6, 2026 | News

The Mission’s 13 programs focus on education, community building, healthcare, and economic stability. And every year, the Mission quantifies the work that we do by counting our impact. Our 2025 Impact Statement shares the numbers behind our work, the hundreds of students who attend EdGE, the amount of food received by community members, and the hundreds of volunteer hours.

Your gift to the Maine Seacoast Mission makes you part of all we do.

Here are a few that stand out:

  • 6 Maine counties received Mission services from Cumberland to Washington county,
  • $1,372,257 was given in scholarships to Mission Scholars and Davis Maine Scholars making college dreams come true,
  • 13 islands reached by Teaching & Learning Collaborative, Island Outreach, and Island Health programs, bridging the distance on outer, unbridged islands.

To put some of those numbers in perspective:

  • Volunteers with Mission programs spent almost 209 days helping the community,
  • If you weighed all the cookies baked on the Sunbeam, they would weigh more than 160 pounds,
  • With more than 468 events happening on the Downeast campus, that’s 1.2 events a day.

All these numbers show the range and scope of Mission programs. “The Mission and its supporters make a difference in some of Maine’s most isolated communities,” says President John Zavodny. “Together, we strengthen community by providing essential support and opportunities for enrichment.”

The Mission is proud to have continually served Maine’s coastal and island communities for more than 120 years. Start exploring our programs for islands and for the Downeast region.
