On January 14, Maine Seacoast Mission will welcome Monica Olivares as the organization’s new Downeast Director to the Mission Downeast campus in Cherryfield. Monica has most recently served as Program Manager for Sunrise Opportunities Prevention Council. Through her prior position, she worked centered around community collaboration, program leadership, financial management, staff development and working to address the community needs in Washington County.
Mission President John Zavodny shares about Olivares’ hiring, “She brings a history of collaboration and dedication to the Mission and has the experience and perspective to bring partners and community together. We couldn’t be more excited about Monica joining us.”

Our community is strong, family-focused, and resilient,” Olivares says. “I am so excited to join the Mission and its big-hearted team. I look forward to continuing to listen to the needs and experience of the community and help lead Mission support Downeast.”
Prior to her position at Sunrise Opportunities Prevention Council, Olivares worked at a prep school, administered a law firm, worked in community healthcare, analyzed policy for a county office, and served as an intern in both the White House and the Supreme Court. As a Downeast mom, Monica has been a Washington Academy sports booster, PTA member, and Little League board member.
