Housing Improvement

The Housing Improvement program repairs homes belonging to residents of Washington and eastern Hancock Counties.

Everyone needs a home that is warm, safe, and dry. From June through September, we welcome hundreds of volunteers at our Cherryfield campus to spend a week working with us. Each summer we complete multiple improvement projects on up to 20 homes in the area. Projects range from access entry decks to window and door repair or replacement.

Operating since 2003, this program works in partnership with volunteer groups from around the country and community organizations. Volunteer groups wishing to participate in the program can reach out to the Mission’s Development department and learn more about Service Tour opportunities on the Service Tours web page.

The Mission is now accepting homeowner applications for the 2026 season. To apply, please download the application via the button below. Please download the application form, complete it, then send by email or mail using the addresses listed on the application form.

Our work is your work, made possible by your generous gifts.

No matter how hard times get, the Mission will be there, helping sustain and strengthen families and communities. Please join us. Your donations bring warmth when it’s cold, shed light where it’s dark, and give strength when burdens grow heavy.
