Join the Mission for ice skating every Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. this winter. The Mission provides both ice skates and helmets for children and adults. In addition to ice skating, there are indoor activities including board games. Lunch, snacks, and hot cocoa are provided. These activities are free and open to all community members.
Your gift to the Maine Seacoast Mission makes you part of all we do.
“This is a great event where families can mingle and enjoy the outdoors,” shares Community Engagement Coordinator Kaysie Logan. “People of all ages are encouraged to use the rink. If you do not have skates, we have some you can borrow.”
In addition to having community ice skating on Saturdays, the rink is used for school field trips and the EdGE Afterschool program. This allows students to often try skating for the first time.
Sarah Congelosi, a third-grade teacher at Rose M. Gaffney in Machias, says, “Many students would not have the opportunity to skate if it was not for the rink here and the many helpful and kind people working here.”
There will also be skating during February break from Tuesday, February 17 to Friday, February 20 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Ice skating will be weather dependent. These activities will happen on the Mission’s Downeast Campus at the EdGE Center, 7 Weald Bethel Lane in Cherryfield.
