Islesford Telemedicine Health Aide

The Community Health Aide in Islesford will work with and be supervised by the Mission’s Director of Island Health to provide telemedicine and health promotion events to the island. Duties will include:

  • Posting and coordinating clinic times
  • Operation and care of telemedicine equipment, explaining to provider and patient equipment use as necessary, using hand-held devices (training provided)
  • Coordinating appointments and care with various patients and providers
  • Intake of patients including vital signs, history, and appropriate paperwork
  • Follow-up and relay of instructions as communicated by medical providers
  • Assisting in finding and facilitating educational talks over telemedicine unit

Qualifications:

  • Willingness and aptitude to be trained in operating telemedicine equipment
  • Willingness and aptitude to be trained as a medical assistant
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Residence on Islesford

Hours:

  • Limited hours, hours may increase as program grows

Training (provided):

  • Training in operation of the equipment and being a medical assistant will be provided by the Maine Seacoast Mission
  • Health aide training will take place in provider’s off-island office and will include taking vital signs, history and appropriate paper work. This will take approximately two days, depending on experience.
  • Training required by MDI Hospital
