BANGOR, Maine (WABI) – ​The Maine Seacoast Mission has found a way to still be a positive voice for members of the Downeast community.

They provide programs and services for thousands of people each year, but because of COVID-19, they’ve had to adapt.

The Mission has launched an initiative called Project Reach Out.

Scott Shaw is the housing rehab manager for Maine Seacoast Mission. When he looks at this construction zone in Milbridge, he sees the start of a new life for a veteran.

Isaac Marnik, Assistant Director of the EdGE program says, “The EdGE program has three summer camp locations. We have one in Machias, Millbridge, and Cherryfield. We give [kids] a lot of options so they have a lot of experiences. Some kids learn how to play chess that haven’t done that, learn how to computer code that haven’t done that before. It’s just a place to come together with their friends and have a positive experience over the summer.”
